What Is Generation Gap?

Generation Gap means the gap or age difference between two sets of people; the young people and their elders, especially between children and their parents. Everything is influenced with the change of time or the age, the culture, mannerism and morality. This change affects everyone. Generation gap is an endless social phenomenon. This is a problem that has continued for ages due to frustrating lack of communication.

Why do Generation Gap Exists Between two generations?

There are few causes of generation gap between two generation which as below:Lack of Understanding: There are many reasons for this cause. It may be due to change in society from when parents were growing up, to how it is in the time of their children, even their way of thinking. Both generations try to speak in different language which created misunderstanding between them.

1. Comparisons: Comparing children to each other or even comparison with other children widen the gap between them. This often causes them to lose confidence in themselves which can destroy enthusiasm in them.

2. Tolerance for mistakes: Parents often do not tolerate mistakes and scolds their children. Children need to make mistakes to learn and grow in life, but if they only get punished for it, it widens the gap and creates a lack of proper communication.

3. Children Are Expected to Be Replicas: Parents often have dreams for their kids and a lot of the time spend by them to force the children in that direction without taking into consideration what their child wants.

4. Less Interaction: Due to the responsibilities of being an adult and the stress that comes from work life, parents often find themselves too tired to spend enough time with their kids every day. This causes a lack of communication and interaction that widens the generation gap.
