When the Trade Mark Registrar issues an opposition to a trademark registration, the applicant is given the opportunity to respond in writing to the objection. The applicant’s response to the Trademark Examination Report should include explanations, details, and justification for why the mark should be registered in his or her favour, as well as any supporting evidence. The application will be required to be published in the Trademark Journal before registration if the Trademark Examiner considers the response satisfactory and addresses all of his or her questions posed in the Examination Report.
